ACLA 2025 conference, in conjunction with Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences, will take place at George Brown College, in Toronto. The conference continues to support equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization, and based on your feedback from 2024, ACLA is happy to confirm that there will be some online presentation opportunities. Please submit your proposal to engage with our vibrant community of applied linguists!

Abstract Submission
ACLA strongly encourages proposals written in French and English in relation to indigenous, less commonly taught, and minority languages, and the participation of members of visible, ethnic, sexual and indigenous minorities.
Paper sessions are 20-minute presentations followed by a 10-minute question/discussion period.
Poster presentations are presented in a 90-minute block.
Symposia will be scheduled for 2-hour blocks.

Single Papers – in person or online**
Abstracts for single papers should be no longer than 250 words. Titles should be short and descriptive (Max 10 words). Please use sentence caps only.
Abstract for Poster Presentations – in person only
Abstracts for poster presentations should be no longer than 250 words. Titles should be short and descriptive (Max 10 words). Poster presentations are a great way to interact with ACLA members and share research in progress or preliminary results.
Abstracts for symposia* – in person only
Abstracts for a symposium should include a general description of the symposium (300 words) as well as a description of each panel member presentation (200 words). Titles should be short and descriptive.

**Online presentations will be made available in a Zoom room for all to attend using a Zoom link. In-person presentations will not be made available online.

Evaluation criteria
Abstracts will be evaluated according to each of the following categories:
- appropriateness and significance of the topic and interest for the participants of ACLA
- evidence of a theoretical framework and links to previous research
- clearly stated research design in the case of empirical studies
- organization and clarity
For abstracts for symposia, in addition, proposals will be evaluated for evidence of coherence and complementarity of the papers. Only one proposal as first author will be considered. Participants can only be second author on one paper
